In the evening, sudden terror! Before the morning, they are gone! This is the portion of those who loot us, the lot of those who plunder us. Isaiah 17:14

If you know about God, the first thing that a person learns about God is that He will bring about correction, guiding us towards the path of righteousness and enlightenment. This correction is often manifested through various life lessons, challenges, and interactions that ultimately aim to refine our character. It serves to remind us that growth often comes from understanding our shortcomings and embracing change. Through this divine correction, individuals are encouraged to reflect on their actions and beliefs, fostering a sense of accountability that leads to a deeper relationship with the Creator.

This correction has purpose, a significance that runs deeper than mere words. A relationship with God is all about purpose; it’s about understanding our individual roles in a larger divine narrative. He is guiding us through the complexities of life, steering us toward an ending—a culmination of his grand design. Each moment we face, whether joyous or challenging, is infused with meaning and leads us closer to that destination. “For I know the plans I have for you” (Jer. 29:11), “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” conveys the assurance that every experience and every lesson learned is part of a greater plan.

We are not simply wandering through existence; we are walking along a path laid out for us, with each step bringing us closer to fulfillment. Embracing this purpose enriches our lives, allowing us to thrive within the framework of His love and guidance.

Simply quoting scriptures is like trying to pay for dinner with Monopoly money – it just doesn’t cut it! You need daily commitment and devotion, study, and a lot of prayer to ditch those not-so-great habits that sneakily invade our lives. I mean, if pride, haughtiness, and the occasional meltdown are your go-to signs that Jesus is steering your ship, you might want to reconsider the navigation!

It’s more like living life as a hardheaded rebel. Remember, Isaiah 29:13. “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me,” which is fancy talk for “They’ve got a PhD in rule-following taught by… well, just about anyone.” Thanks, Isaiah!

I know some may think this applies to others, but it truly applies to my life first. We all need help with something. None of us is perfect like Jesus; we are all seeking guidance. Let’s not pick and choose what we believe needs fixing. We can trust Jesus to guide us on the right path.

We can ignore God’s ability to guide us and keep heading toward destruction, or we can accept His guidance and become better, more effective people. It’s our choice. Choose life!
