“This is the victory that Overcomes the world even our faith..” I John 4,5 MSG

Many have lost hearts due to the events happening in the world today. Believing there is no justice for those who are wronged and admitting that after hiding their own hatred and violence, it has only escalated.

Having lived their whole lives doing what they thought to be correct, they discover in their old age they have succumbed to the violence themselves having viciously inflicted their own ill on others.  Those who would have never admitted their struggle in their younger years, now find that in their latter years, they sit in a courtroom awaiting a sentence for a senseless crime. Knowing that because of their one act of violence but years of unconfessed sin, they may well spend the rest of their few lives in a jail cell.

Of course, some only wish to erase the past and continue believing that they can hide behind laws rather than deal with their denial. Denial is never a solution.

Bad experiences can never be erased neither can feelings of hate, anger, and rejection.  In time these feelings will fester into a time bomb exploding many years into old age. After many years, something will happen that will cause those pent-up feelings to become rage, forgetting what kept them from reacting in their younger life. The deceitfulness of this world can impede anyone, even those who swore to defend its laws and principles.

But the Bible tells us that: “The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith.” 1 John 4-5 MSG. When we know whom, we believe, our faith is what will keep us strong. Even during those emotional waves of torment, it is faith that will give us victory and allow us to overcome the ways of the world. It will cease the torment that comes through years of oppression and will give us the victory not to lose heart. It is our faith in God that rises to save us.

Those powers that have lavished themselves with violence, hate, and wickedness are like a flickering candle. Here one day and gone the next. As the scripture says.   “Your sins will find you out.” In other words, your sins have searched for you and now will expose you. What you hid from yourself, has now been exposed for all to see.

When we comprehend that powers are not enduring, we know we have overcome them and brought our world to its knees. It is faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, not the systems of the world that gives us the authority to believe and be a conqueror. It is Jesus Christ who overcame this world and empowers us to overcome it also. It is necessary to believe this to live it. This truth will be beneficial to the young, and even in our old age. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith!
