When men rule in righteousness, when he rules in the fear God, he is like the light of morning at sunrise, on a cloudless morning.
2 Sam 23:3-4.

If a man truly believes in God’s principles, he will lead with honesty and good judgment, encouraging others to do the same. A leader like this creates a space of trust and respect, where people feel appreciated and heard. This helps build a community that cares for and supports him completely. As a result, everyone can be together and succeed under his leadership.

Saul, the first king of Israel, became increasingly selfish and defensive, believing that others sought his throne and plotted against him. Consumed by jealousy and paranoia, he became distracted by his relentless attempts to kill David, the very man who aimed to support and protect him during turbulent times. This spiraled into deep distrust, as Saul focused all his energy on preserving his own power rather than leading his people wisely.

In his desperation, he ultimately sought out a witch for guidance, hoping to predict his future, which only compounded his misfortunes. This fateful choice led to his rejection by God, resulting in not only the tragic loss of his life but also the heartbreaking death of his beloved son, Jonathan. Saul’s misguided actions ultimately cost him his throne, leaving behind a legacy marked by fear and tragedy.

There is only one thing I will advise on who should lead us. The person that is a leader must be someone who truly cares about people and is committed to doing what is right by them, not just in words but in actions as well. This individual should possess a genuine compassion for others, understanding their struggles and advocating for their needs. It would be immensely beneficial if that person also has a deep care for God and demonstrates this through their character and decisions.

Leadership involves great responsibility, so honesty and integrity should be essential traits for any leader. True guidance comes from above, and if someone claims to love God yet supports a corrupt individual, I question their faith. The Bible says, “You cannot serve both God and mammon,” highlighting the conflict that arises from misaligned values; this often leads to a dangerous compromise in leadership. We must reflect on our true priorities when selecting our leaders.

Prayer helps us make decisions. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person is powerful.” James 5:16.

The outcome is in God’s hands.
