How they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like on of these. Luke 12:;22-32.

What sustains you? What keeps you motivated? Is it your job, your business, or your social life? Do you place your trust in your ability to “perform?” Jesus refers it to “toiling or spinning?” In our everyday language, we would simply say, “surviving.”
Few people today, “toil or spin” for a living. Not the way people used to. They developed skills working in their craft. For example creating fabrics from natural fibers, then weaving, cutting, and sewing a garment for sale. Although many people sew and design for a living today, few create the textiles they work with. Industrial machines and technology have helped us a lot in that way.
Although, we are convinced that we do hard labor today, Jesus presented another solution to support ourselves , without all the stress involved. Jesus said, the next time we are worried about things we need, “ Consider the Lillies, that grow in the field.”
They neither work, nor labor, yet they are beautiful .The herb and grass appear every season feeding animals and nourishing fish. yet there is an abundant supply of food for them. Neither do they work from 9-5 as we do yet they eat and are satisfied with what they need.
So is the answer to sit and wait for our food to arrive and not work for a living? No, even animals must forage for their food. They have their part to do. Working is good for us and gives no better reward than enjoying the fruit of one’s labor. It’s the faith that God will provide that is the work.
It’s faith at work when times are difficult. The Bible says “Faith without works is dead.” It’s as if someone has a cord, and wants to turn on a light, but doesn’t plug the cord into the electrical socket. Dead also can mean fruitless, barren, and unproductive, even though we may go to a job or work in our business every day.
It’s knowing that God will sustain us. Even in the darkest times that everybody experiences at some point in life. No one can foresee and control the unexpected turmoil that can turn our lives upside down.
It’s then that our faith brings assurance that all will be well because we believe that God will provide. If we believe that He is a Provider, we know that He will never fail us. Jesus said that our Father already knows what we need. Even before we ask. He is always up for the challenge.
When our faith is ready for the test, God will step up to the challenge. He will always deliver. Always! So next time we are worn out from our workload, look around you and, Consider the Lillies.
