This is the Victory that Overcomes the World: Even Our Faith. 1 John 4:5

Our faith is being tested every day. People assume that having faith applies to a religious group.  But whether you believe in God or not, you have faith in something, and if you live on this planet, that faith will be tested.

People apply their faith in different ways, such as having relationships with other people, Faith in a spouse, or children having faith in their parents.  We believe that they love us and that they will support us if we need them.  Faithfulness is a part of loving and being loved.

Others have faith in various worldly systems.  The banking system is one system where we place our faith.  Our faith is that our money will be available whenever we need it.  Banks advertise convincing us that our money is secure once placed in one of their accounts.  Even though our faith may be dwindling about that, we continue to deposit our money in the bank until someone comes up with another idea. Then we will have faith in that idea.

We have faith that our government and its laws will protect us and our civil rights.  As well as law enforcement, which will defend us from evil persons.   We vote for the politician that best represents what we want our country to do for us.  We have faith that when they are elected, they will do what they promised to do while making fleeting stops in our city.

There are so many systems that we put our faith in health, education, legal, and religion. The list goes on forever.  Eventually realizing these systems are flawed and cannot be depended on to navigate through our difficulties.

The truth about faith is that it works; if what we believe in is trustworthy when times are difficult. Placing our faith in God is as safe and dependable as one can get.   Psalm 32: 7 states, “You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance.”

The Lord will support us when faulty systems go wrong, and we are left helpless in our time of need.  He also gives us the tools to establish faith and keep it strong. Salvation, prayer, fasting, and reading the Word of God will tone us up like a weight strengthens muscle.  This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
