“Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding.” Job 28:28.

Godly wisdom is obtained by having reverence and submission to the Lord. Believing that God has the final word on all matters concerning your life. Trusting that His wisdom is greater than our meager education and influence.

Job says that in this world God has supplied a place for everything that He created. There is a place in the earth for silver and for gold.” Job 28: 1.

He also states that,“The bread comes out of the earth.” And that, ”There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture’s eye hath not seen. Job 28:5,7. ” I live in the rural country, believe me there is nothing that a vulture’s eye does not see!

Godly wisdom is different from man’s understanding. Our gifts and skills are developed through education, and experience. Once cultivated they become useful and can bring great recognition and wealth. However, man’s wisdom is limited. We can be wise in one subject, or skill, but totally ignorant in another.

He also asks, “Where shall wisdom be found? Where is the place of understanding?” Wisdom, Job says, cannot be gotten for gold.”

Godly wisdom cannot be excavated and sold on an open market. There is no mountain where it is hidden. “But God understandeth the way thereof, and He knoweth the place thereof.” Vs 23.
Wisdom is only possessed when we fear the Lord. God’s laws and statues cannot be bartered or exchanged. Once written they last for eternity, outlasting man’s meager understanding. We will receive wisdom when we begin to fear the Lord!

Education provides us with the tools to navigate through life. It enables us to create skills and earn a living. But education does not guarantee a life directed by “Godly wisdom”. Without seeking Godly wisdom, a person can obtain a PH.D. and still make reckless decisions that will prove unproductive. An elected official will never become a successful leader, without Godly wisdom no matter how skilled and popular they may be.

An administration, or legislature that attempts to govern without seeking God’s wisdom is chaotic and toxic. Its only biproduct is calamity and despair. Law enforcement is ineffective if it attempts to enforce laws without Godly wisdom. Its result will be war, and rebellion.

It is Godly wisdom that can deliver us in dangerous times- such as the times we are living in now. War and plagues are nothing new to God. “What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9

We fight and bicker about how to manage ourselves during this pandemic. To wear a mask or not wear a mask! Whether to lock down or not. Why not seek God’s wisdom, through prayer? Believe that God will give us the right answer.

Godly Wisdom. Pray for it today! We all need it!
