Psalm 20:7

The writer in Psalms 20:7 declares, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” That, in uncertain times he chose to trust in the Lord to get him through challenging times.  Of course, In his day, horses and chariots were a source of safety and mobility. However, while useful for transportation, if you were a warrior in a battle it would not give reassurance of survival.

Likewise, our modern agencies which are meant to serve the community by distributing needed resources to the public during a crisis are consistently not meeting the challenge. Delays in receiving test kits last year placed our country behind in treating those affected with the virus.  More recently, last week in Texas when their state utility system collapsed, citizens were to fend for themselves.  Once again creating further distrust in the systems that we once believed would protect us in a crisis.

Another ongoing failure is for the unemployed to receive their desperately needed weekly payments. People are filing for their unemployment and unable to speak with a representative over the phone. Simply to get an update on why they have not received their unemployment payments.  Once again leaving them without money to take care of their families.

So, in these challenging times where does one go for help? The writer of Psalms is reminding the believer to go to God- in prayer. He trusts in the fact that God’s system never fails. Even though his faith was being tested, he knew that long before any calamity could befall him- God would send an answer.  He remained steadfast to God and placed no confidence in concocted solutions that were destined to fail.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.  Jesus is the answer to the dilemmas of the day.  It seems that with each new month there is a new crisis.  But Jesus will always give thee guidance and help that we need.  If only we ask and believe He will take us through it all.  Trust God for your help.  He will never fail you.
