David was a man. A human being with flaws. He had other attributes that one would not necessarily consider him to be a man of God. But David loved God and communicated with God ALL of the time.
David danced, wrote music and sang songs to God. In prayer and in his despair, he cried out in anguish to God. He said, “Lord my heart is not haughty, nor mine eye lofty; neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.” Psalm 131:1. Although he was a king, he wasn’t so egotistical to believe that he knew everything! God declared, David to be a man after his own heart.
If there was one spiritual tool that David used it was prayer. He prayed when he was in trouble and even when he was being chastised by God. He knew that prayer was a type of communication that would yield the answers, direction, and power that was necessary to be a successful leader.
If one is to lead people they must pray and pray often. The fruits of a praying leader are evident for it will reveal the will of God for the people. Not only for the King himself. Leadership doesn’t only benefit the leader but the people that they lead. Prayer will assist anyone responsible for others. But for all those who lead people whether in business, family or a church, prayer is truly the answer.
Prayer works. It really works!
